One month before our skiing begins at Great Northern and the staff is busy preparing for what looks to be another exciting winter. We have been watching the snow fall steadily on top of GREAT NORTHERN MOUNTAIN and are anxiously waiting to get up there to make the first turns of the season.
Please keep revisiting our website for an up-to-date SNOW REPORT that we will post in mid-December
Snow Report : January 14 2015
Snowpack: 240 cm
This week's snow: 30 cm
Average Temperature -5C
El Niño? What El Niño. With pre season fears approaching fever pitch in the minds and hearts - and for many, memory - we have yet to experience the forecast dreaded effects of a so called warm drought. As each day dawns and we make our way into Great Northerns terrain we marval at the bountiful gifts the snow gods are laying at our feet. If this is El Niño then I say... you better come get some!
Snow Report : January 7 2015
Snowpack: 255 cm
This week's snow: 20 cm
Average Temperature -3C
It's been a great week of skiing with small amounts of new snow each day to keep things fresh. It had been getting a bit warmer but staying cool enough to allow for great conditions.
Snow Report: December 31, 2015
Snowpack: 275 cm
This week's snow: 15 cm
Average Temperature -8C
Light, dry and deep. It has been one of the best starts to the season we have seen in years. After a day of overcast weather the skies parted and we have been skiing bluebird waist deep powder! With an average snowpack of just below 3 m we are able to ski lines that we can't normal touch until Feb. Life is good and the skiing is better at Great Northern right now!
