Mother Nature has turned the taps back on, and with temperatures steady around -9c today, all that white gold is staying nice and cold. With 31cm of fresh snow in the last 24 hours, the reset button has been pushed and the mountain is a fresh canvas once again. There's more snow in the short-term and long-term forecasts - all things are pointing to more prime time conditions up in the hills!
I HAVE BEEN TOLD MANY TIMES FROM PEOPLE THAT SKI/SNOWBOARD THE SELKIRK MOUNTAINS IN BC THAT MARCH CAN BE THE BEST MONTH WITH THE MOST SNOWFALL. BELOW IS A QUOTE FROM OUR LEAD GUIDE AT GREAT NORTHERN DAVE OSBORNE
Conditions as of yesterday, March 2.
Probably the best day of skiing i have ever had was yesterday.. 28 cm overnight, Thursday morning heavy snowfall all day with an additional 20 over the day. So a solid 50cm in 30 hrs! Full over the head powder skiing conditions , that doesn't happen often. The guests were blown away with the conditions, SKIING WAS 12 OUT OF 10!!!
A total of 120 cm since Feb 26 with our current storm sitting at 50cm by the end of the day Thursday. Cool temps and good skiing on all asp to valley bottom. Truly as good as it gets right now. Our total height of snow is over 3m settled at 1800m now.
